Viking XPRS handed over to Viking Line
Viking Line Abp today took delivery of the Viking XPRS from the Aker Yards
shipyard in Helsinki, Finland. The vessel was ordered on November 29, 2005 and
built in Helsinki. It begins service at 11.30 a.m. on Monday, April 28. The
price of the vessel is approximately EUR 130 million.
A fast, comfortable vessel
The M/S Viking XPRS is a high-speed passenger ferry designed to serve the route
between Helsinki and Tallinn (Estonia). The vessel was built in the highest ice
class, 1 A Super, to allow safe, on-time scheduled service during all seasons.
Its customer-friendly concept, developed over a period of several years, will
bring together the best features of first-class passenger ferries and high-speed
vessels. The Viking XPRS will combine comfort, on board service and reliability
with a short crossing time. It utilizes the best possible technology to minimize
environmental impact. All its main and auxiliary engines are equipped with
catalytic cleansing systems.
