Youth groups on cruises

The quota is 100 people/cruise Sun-Wed and 40/cruise Thu-Sat. A youth group is a group where the majority are youths. The price for youth groups is always fixed according to normal cruise prices and unfortunately no special offers are available.

Youth groups with participants not meeting the required age limits are welcome on selected cruises under the following conditions:

1. The trip is organised by a school, sport’s association or another association.

2. The group is accompanied by a leader with a recognisable connection to the group, for example a teacher, parents or the leader of the association. One leader per every 10 participants is required.

The leader for the youth group must be at least 30 years of age. (Exception: a teacher under the age of 30 is accepted as a supervisor when travelling with his/her school class.) The leader’s connection to the group must be verified by the proper documentation.

3. Cruises available for youth groups are limited to cruises Helsinki-Stockholm, Grand Cruises Turku-Stockholm (on this cruise the group spends the day in Stockholm and returns to Turku on the evening departure) and Hotel cruises Helsinki-Tallinn. Youth groups are allowed to travel on all weekdays within the current quota and with regard to the age limits and rules mentioned above.

Mini cruises Turku-Stockholm (a mini cruise is a cruise where you spend all your time on board without going ashore and return immediately with the same ship), Picnic cruises Turku-Mariehamn, cruises with Cinderella from Stockholm or Mini cruises Helsinki-Tallinn are not open to youth groups.

Age limits on regular routes

There are no age limits on regular routes except for groups.

Exceptions:
Hotel trips to Sweden and the Baltic States
Every day age 18
Cinderella (Stockholm - Åland), applies to all departures both regular and cruises.
Every day age 21

The age limits for regular traffic do not apply to youths travelling with a parent or guardian, or to youths with a written certificate stating that the reason for travelling is studies, work, sports contest, to visit relatives etc. In order to stay in a hotel in the Baltic States you must be at least 18 years of age if you travel without a parent or guardian.

Children under the age of 16 are allowed to travel alone on regular traffic departures only when a parent or guardian has given their written consent. Viking Line must be able to check the validity of the consent for example by telephone.
